Salomons Showcase | Kent Event Photographer

So this one is not going to be a normal wedding blog, in fact it’s not a wedding blog at all! The Salomons Estate, which is one of my regular venues asked me if I would like to come and cover a new type of event they’re trying out namely a showcase of local bands and singers presenting their own original material as well as popular covers. Now, normally concert photography isn’t really bread and butter for me but I do like to work outside of my comfort zone every now and then so I packed my photo gear and headed to the venue.

The acts were T and the Biscuits followed by Chris Whitmore, and Matthew Hovenden who played his original material and took the opportunity to promote his kickstarter campaign to gather funds to self-release a 4 track EP. The next act was Ricky and the Hats who simply rocked the house with their electrifying mix of Ska, dub and pop followed by The Dirty Pillows who served a smorgasbord of all time rock classics.

I had a fantastic time, as did the guests since the Salomons’ Science Theatre floor quickly turned into a mosh pit, and would definitely like to cover more events like this. Who knows, there are talks of hosting more nights like this at the Salomons Estate so keep your eyes open.
